The scans have been obtained and adjusted using black&white chess board targets. The accuracy of a single point can be estimated as 5 mm at the one sigma level. After the process of the data acquisition and adjustment, the density of data have been reduced.
ATLAS Laser Scanning
The ATLAS measurement
ATLAS UX15 - the main detector cavern
The aim of the measurement was to establish a position of the services, and the cable trays between voussoirs.
ATLAS SR1 - the surface area
The aim of the measurement was to establish a position of the services, walls and ceiling in building SR1.
ATLAS USA15 - the service cavern
The aim of the measurement was to establish a position of the services in room USA15.
ATLAS - Tile Barrel Scan
The aim of the measurement was to establish a position of the services on Tile Barrel for C side.
The ATLAS detector cavern
After the reduction, the absolute distance between adjacent points is not higher than 3 mm. Moreover, the scans have been treated by noise and SOR filter afterwards, which reduces the number of points by half. Generally, the data has been acquired in 12 separated sets.
Certain areas of scanned object have been cut, because the Plexiglas cover have been located symmetrically around. The geometrical information under the cover might be false. These areas have been deleted permanently to avoid any mistake.
